How the Itsy Bitsy Spider rhyme came about

In a magical world yonder the seven seas lived a merry little spider. This delightful little arachnid lived in a world full of wonder and merriment. But this wasn’t just any spider that you would come across in your childhood.

This was the Itsy Bitsy Spider! It was well known in the farthest lands as the cheerful spider. Today, we are going to swing from the Itsy Bitsy Spider’s web and sing a merry song with Rocco just as we enjoy singing Rain Rain Go Away.

As we swing along, the Itsy Bitsy Spider is going to jump from leaf to leaf and cross streams on wading logs.

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout,

Down came the rain and washed the spider out.

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,

And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again!

 

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the kitchen wall,

Swoosh went the fan and made the spider fall.

Off went the fan, no longer did it blow,

And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the wall like so!

 

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the tall oak tree,

Strong wind blew and made the spider flee.

Down came the rain, but the spider didn’t fear,

For the itsy bitsy spider knew the skies would clear!

 

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up without a frown,

Through all the challenges, it didn’t let them bring it down.

It climbed and climbed, never losing its glee,

For the itsy bitsy spider was as happy as can be!
